Frequently asked questions.

The practical answers, in plain language. If yours is missing, write to us and you will get a real reply.

General
What is SevenTales?

SevenTales turns real places, parks, museums, towns and attractions, into stories guests play on their own phone. A story branches with choices, puzzles and maps, and can be retold for different audiences and languages. Guests start by scanning a QR code; there is nothing to install.

What does one story, many tellings mean?

You build the story once. Then you publish tellings of it: for children, for adults, for guests who prefer easy language, and in other languages. Same route, same learning goals, a different voice and depth for each audience.

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Stories run in any modern mobile browser, straight from the QR code. No app store, no download queue, no account.

Which devices are supported?

Any modern smartphone, iOS or Android, plus tablets and desktop browsers. Narrated stories are nicer with headphones, but a phone speaker does fine.

Which languages are supported?

The platform runs in English, Dutch, French and German. A story can publish a telling per language, so guests play in the language they came with.

What does it cost?

Launching a first pilot story with us is free. When you charge guests for access, payments run through Stripe checkout and we agree a simple revenue share. No tiers and no surprises.

For creators
Do I need technical skills?

No. The Studio is visual: scenes, routes, quizzes and media are edited directly. In a pilot we co-create the first story with you, so you learn the tools on real material.

Which scene types are available?

Fourteen today: narration, maps and route maps, quizzes, puzzles, mini games, media galleries, before and after comparisons, timelines, compass navigation, guest input, forms, composite scenes and panoramas.

Can my team work on a story together?

Yes. Colleagues draft, review and approve changes together, while the live story keeps running untouched until the next version is published.

How does audio narration work?

Upload your own recordings or generate narration per scene. Every telling can carry its own audio, so the children’s version does not sound like the experts’ version.

Can I charge guests for a story?

Yes. You set the price, guests pay per play through Stripe checkout, and every order shows up in your reporting.

How do I get started?

Two doors: plan a pilot with us and we build the first story together, or create a studio account and build on your own. Most places start with the pilot.

For guests
How do I play a story?

Scan the QR code at the location, or open the story link. The story starts in your browser and guides you from there.

Do I need an account?

No. Stories play without an account. If a story asks for your email address, it is optional and only used to send you your access link.

What if the signal drops along the route?

Stories are built for the outdoors. Once a story has started, it keeps working through patchy coverage, on forest trails and in thick-walled buildings.

For organizations
Can the story carry our branding?

The story carries your name, your tone and your content, with a small Powered by SevenTales note by default. Full custom branding can come later.

What reporting do we get?

Starts, completions, results and payment outcomes per story. Enough to decide about expanding with numbers instead of impressions.

How does billing work?

Starting is free. When a story charges guests, Stripe handles checkout and we agree the revenue share up front. There is no subscription to manage in the pilot phase.

We are a museum or a city. How do we start?

That is exactly who the pilot is for. We pick one flagship story together, co-create it in a few weeks, launch it by QR code, and review real guest numbers with you.
